According to Virtuoso’s newest annual Travel Dreams Survey, taking a world cruise topped its list of luxury trips of a lifetime among nearly 11,000 readers of the luxury travel network’s Virtuoso Life magazine. Survey results also showed Australia as readers’ number-one dream destination, and the Galapagos Islands as the most alluring island escape. The lists are as follows:

Earlier this year, Virtuoso also surveyed more than 250 members of its travel network for its 2010 Virtuoso Luxe Report. This annual survey of agents mirrored the responses of Virtuoso Life’s readership, listing Italy, Mexico, South Africa, Australia and France as the five most popular destinations for international travel in 2010. The Luxe Report also identified emerging destinations that are on the cusp of becoming popular, either for the first time or yet again. Topping this list were India, Vietnam, Cuba, the Galapagos Islands, China and Chile.
